Sorting out your travel money before you fly? Stansted Airport has plenty of options for exchanging currency. Whether you want the convenience of picking it up at the terminal or prefer locking in a better rate online before you travel, there are several services to choose from. To help you decide, here’s a closer look at some of the main providers available.
One of the world's largest foreign currency providers Travelex, gives all of your usual currency exchange services, alongside extras such as a VAT refund service, travel insurance, traveler's cheques and a Cash Passport.
Why Travelex ?
The Post Office is known for competitive exchange rates and 0% commission. They also offer flexible options if you’re spending big or just topping up for a short trip.
Alongside Travelex and the Post Office, you’ll also find smaller currency kiosks and online order services linked to Stansted. Many of these allow you to reserve your travel money online for collection at the airport, often at a better rate than walking up to the counter.
You’ll find currency exchange desks both before and after security at Stansted Airport, so you can pick up cash whether you’re just arriving or about to board. Most providers accept both cash and card payments. Euros and US Dollars are usually available immediately, while other currencies may require pre-ordering by 3pm the day before for collection the next day.
Where can I collect my currency? – At Travelex or Post Office counters in the main terminal, before and after security.
Do I need to pre-order? – Not always, but you’ll usually get a better rate if you order online in advance.
Are there commission fees? – Most providers, including the Post Office, offer 0% commission.
